IT Distributor from RPA: From Low LinkedIn Consistency to a Scalable Visibility Engine

How an 8-person team built a scalable visibility system from scratch,
achieving over 190% growth in reach in just 4 months.

Introduction

The distributor transformed its disjointed LinkedIn activity into a structured, repeatable system for building visibility, engagement, and long-term relationships with partners, turning LinkedIn into a scalable channel for influencing customer perception even before the sales process begins.

Over 30 years of experience in the ICT industry

This Dell Technologies distributor, operating in South Africa and the CEEMETA region, has been active in the ICT industry for over 30 years and plays a significant role in supporting partner ecosystems in African markets. Its operations span more than 15 countries, and enablement activities, technological expertise, and collaboration with partners on go-to-market strategies remain key elements of its growth.

In a B2B environment where customer trust is built even before direct contact with the supplier, LinkedIn becomes a space where Authority Signals and Human Authority influence how purchasing committees perceive an organization.

The Social Selling Experts (SSE), created for Dell Technologies, was implemented at this distributor to enhance the visibility of their sales and marketing staff’s expertise, increase partner engagement, and develop the team’s ability to build long-term relationships in the online channel through structured activity on LinkedIn.

Entry point

Low consistency and limited visibility.

At the beginning of the program, the team’s activity on LinkedIn was inconsistent and limited.
Despite a high level of expertise and very good market knowledge, these competencies were not sufficiently visible in the digital environment, where:

Customers conduct preliminary research
Partners assess credibility
Market visibility is being built
Key barriers included:
Irregular publication schedule
Lack of structured access to content
Lack of a consistent operating model across workshops
As a result, a clear gap emerged between the team’s actual expertise and its perceived visibility in the market.

Challenge

From Inconsistency to Systemic Activity
Before implementing the program, the challenge was to translate the sales and marketing team’s expert knowledge into regular, visible, and consistent activity on LinkedIn. The organization had strong industry expertise, experience working with partners, and a recognizable position in the technology distribution market; however, this potential was not being fully leveraged in employees’ communications.

In practice, this meant the need to create a repeatable model that would help program participants build expert visibility in a systematic way, aligned with business goals, and sustainable in their day-to-day work. It was crucial not only to prepare content but also to develop the team’s competencies in social selling, activating personal profiles, building relationships with partners, and strengthening trust in the organization through the presence of its experts on LinkedIn.

An additional challenge was structuring the process so that the activities would not be a one-time campaign but would become part of a broader approach to communication, enablement, and go-to-market collaboration within the partner ecosystem.

The program components included:
A training platform with video courses
A content platform offering access to 6 new posts per week for distributors in the Dell sector, along with a dashboard for individual and group analytics
Two one-hour group workshop sessions covering the optimization of LinkedIn profiles and the principles of building expert credibility in social selling on LinkedIn, developing a consistent communication style, using AI to create content independently, structured networking, and strengthening one-on-one relationships with partners on LinkedIn
Additional resources to support habit formation: AI prompts, training materials in the form of PDFs and graphics customized to the distributor’s brand
Regular progress reports, performance analysis, and data-driven recommendations
The goal was not merely to impart knowledge. The key was to create a repeatable system of action that enables the consistent building of a presence over time.

The program was designed based on a phased approach:
Developing a LinkedIn presence strategy and onboarding to training tools and platforms
Developing your first publishing habits, acquiring knowledge from the course at the beginner, practitioner, and expert levels
A shift toward promoting the company's brand by leveraging the participants' expertise in their respective roles in a transparent manner consistent with the organization's mission
A clearly defined program implementation model was put in place, combining skills development through live workshops, access to a toolkit, and ongoing support for activities on LinkedIn.
Participants transitioned from sporadic activity to a repeatable, loop-based model:
publish → learn → optimize → repeat
As a result, visibility is no longer an occasional activity but has become a systemic competency embedded in the team’s daily work.

Goals

From Activity to Measurable Business Impact

The distributor defined its growth strategy in social selling based on specific, measurable results, rather than solely on increased activity.

Key objectives included:
Strengthening our presence on LinkedIn and partner engagement
Increasing visibility within the industry and the impact of events
Generating measurable results in the form of:
- new leads,
- higher levels of audience engagement,
 - increased credibility for the company’s experts and brand,
- expanded organic reach and advocacy through content.
To strengthen the network effect through the efforts of the entire team
Building a long-term foundation for attracting partners and customers after the program ends
So the goal wasn't simply to publish content. We wanted to build a consistent system for gaining visibility that would translate into relationships, enhance the perception of our experts, and help increase our business impact in the long term.
